بهیه نامجو، مادر نوید افکاری: نام نوید، پیام آزادی است. نوید، یعنی آزادی
انقلاب اسلامی در هجرت- محمد رضا راعی: بهیه نامجو، از نسلِ شیر مادرِ باستانی ما گردآفرید، مادر نوید افکاری و برادران زندانی اش، در مصاحبه ای با خبرگزاری سی ان ان، تصریح نمود که عزم راسخ دارد تا میراث پسر قهرمانش نوید را پاس داشته و ٢ پسر دیگر خویش، وحید و حبیب را از زندان آزاد سازد.
این مادر ایرانیِ ما اعلان داشت که به خاطر دو پسر زندانی اش، مصاحبه می کند که یک سال است، در زندان “عادل آباد” شیراز، دربند اند.
بهیه نامجو خطاب به افکار عمومی ایرانیان و جهانیان افشا نمود: مأموران امنیتی رژیم ولایت فقیه، با اذیت و آزار شبانه روزی، آرامش را از دخترم، فرزندانم و خودم، ربوده و هر روزِ ما را تماماً، سیاه و ظلمانی ساخته اند: می فهمید؟ آنها، زندگی برای ما، بجا نگذاشته اند!
این مادر سخنگو، از حمایت سایر ورزشکاران، ابراز رضایت و شادمانی نموده و تأیید نمود که از آن حمایت ها، احساس خوبی پیدا می کند: انگار نوید جانی دوباره یافته و به زندگی برگشته است.
مادر نوید افکاری و برادرانش، به شهادت کسانی که بر سر مزار پسر شهید اش می روند، وجدان ما ایرانیان را مورد خطاب قرار می دهد: نام نوید، پیام آزادی است. نوید، یعنی آزادی.

Mahmudiyah rape and killings
The Mahmudiyah rape and killings were war crimes involving the gang-rape and murder of 14-year-old Iraqi child Abeer Qassim Hamza al-Janabi and the murder of her family by United States Armysoldiers on March 12, 2006. It occurred in the family’s house to the southwest of Yusufiyah, a village to the west of the town of Al-Mahmudiyah, Iraq. Other members of al-Janabi’s family murdered by Americans included her 34-year-old mother Fakhriyah Taha Muhasen, 45-year-old father Qassim Hamza Raheem, and 6-year-old sister Hadeel Qassim Hamza Al-Janabi.[1] The two remaining survivors of the family, 9-year-old brother Ahmed and 11-year-old brother Mohammed, were at school during the massacre and orphaned by the event.

…But Green said people should know his actions were a consequence of his circumstances in a war zone.
‘If I hadn’t ever been in Iraq, I wouldn’t be in the kind of trouble I’m in now,’ Green said. ‘I’m not happy about that.’
A 19-year-old high school dropout from Midland, Texas, Green joined the Army after obtaining his high school equivalency diploma from a correspondence school.
The military placed Green with the Fort Campbell-based 101st Airborne. Upon arriving in Iraq, Green said, his training to kill, the rampant violence and derogatory comments by other soldiers against Iraqis served to dehumanise that country’s civilian population.
Green said. ‘I wasn’t thinking these people were humans.’
In the interview, Green described alcohol and drugs being prevalent at the checkpoint. Green said soldiers there frequently felt abandoned by the Army and were given little support….

U.S. soldier convicted of Iraq rape, murders found hanged in prison
The death on Saturday of Steven Dale Green, 28, at the United States Penitentiary in Tucson, Arizona, was being investigated as a suicide, the paper said. Green had been found hanging in his cell last week, according to the Times report.
He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after a federal jury in Kentucky could not decide whether he should be executed.
During the trial, prosecutors portrayed Green as the ringleader of a gang of five soldiers that plotted to invade the home of the family of four to rape the girl, and later bragged about the crime.
Green, 19 at the time of the crime, was described as the triggerman in the group of soldiers, which donned black “ninja” outfits and raped the girl before killing her and her family. The rape and murders took place after the soldiers drank whiskey, played cards and plotted the attack.
